Jalon is a charming small town of the Marina Alta nestled between two mountains. It is famous for its excellent wine cellars, a great opportunity to learn about the whole winemaking process and to enjoy local delicacies of Jalón, such as the famous mistela wine (a sweet fortified wine) or the tasty vermouth.
However, Jalón has much more to offer and features some interesting historical monuments such as its church, ancestral houses and an ethnological museum that recounts the history of the town.
Solhabitat also invites you to pay a visit to the “Mercat de la Terra”: a market held every first Saturday of the month on the Plaza Mayor. Enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and shop some of the best organic traditional products of the area.
Guadalest is a small town located in the Region of the Marina Baja, approximately 55 km from Moraira. It is considered as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain and is the perfect spot to enjoy a truly scenic landscape. The area has a rich history and culture displayed in the many museums of the town. Children will love the one dedicated to doll houses where as the adults can enjoy the museum of historical vehicles. It is also the home of one of Spain’s most visited castles: “The castle of Guadalest or San Jose”, which was built by the Moors in the 11th century.
Cinephiles might also recognize this wonderful place from one of the scene of the movie “My Great Greek Wedding” by Hollywood producer TOM HANKS.
This beautiful island facing the city of Alicante is truly a hidden gem! It only takes a 20min ferry from Santa Pola to get there! You will find wonderful crystal-clear water and delightful beaches, a fortified old town with cute souvenirs shops, restaurants and bars and a very picturesque marina.
If you are in the area we warmly recommend it. Don’t forget to take your goggles! Its coast is a great spot for snorkel and you will be surprised by the richness of its marine fauna.
